Discover Venice, but not as a ‘foresto’

In the soft, musical language that true Venetians speak, a ‘foresto‘ is anyone who comes from outside Venice, a tourist. During this season, the flow of visitors has dropped and you can discover Venice by mixing with the real ‘Venexiani‘.

Perhaps off the beaten track, far from the popular routes of Rialto-San Marco-Ponte dei Sospiri. There is a Venice for you to discover that will make you say “oh!” every time you turn the corner of an alley.

How to reach Venice: if you wish to avoid the traffic, the train station of Quarto d’Altino is just a few kilometres from A Casa di Delia. Trains run frequently (one about every half an hour) and in no more than half an hour, just enough time to admire the scenery, you will be in Venice.

If you don’t want to get lost: look out for the ‘nizioleti‘ … which are white hand-painted rectangles on the walls of houses indicating the way to the key points of the city.
You will not want to miss a visit to the ‘bacari‘, the typical taverns, to taste ‘cichéti‘, the delicious fish and vegetable snacks.
